Seven Months Old!

This has been a very exciting month, my darling. You have been learning and developing on overdrive. Daddy has taken to comparing you to a turtle because you still haven't rolled from back to front. You lie on your back playing happily until one of us moves you. I think you could do it if you wanted to, but you're usually content to hang out. Rolling just isn't your thing.

You have learned to haul yourself around on your tummy a bit, though. You can't move forward yet, but you can turn in a circle to get to different toys. You're also starting to get your legs up under yourself and your bottom in the air, so we'd better get babyproofing. You've figured out how to bounce using your knees this month, too. You've always loved to stand, and now it's even more fun.

You are still eating a ton. You just always seem hungry, a trait your Daddy is sure you inherited from him. In an apparent attempt to emulate Calder, you have taken to eating entire halves of avocados. You just can't wait for your teeth to start coming in so you can try more foods. For now, banana still reigns supreme. The most delightful thing you've had? Banana-cado. Mmm... it's actually really yummy, folks!

You've really started coming out of your shell this month (I know, groan). You've become much more social and willing to interact with people other than Daddy and me. Our friends Jaime and David came to visit, and you had a blast playing with them. Grandma and Grandpa came to visit this month, and you were so busy playing with them you didn't even notice when I left the room! We have always known how charming you are -- it's so fun to watch you charming other people, too.

And the talking. Oh my, you love to talk. You went from starting to babble consonants about a month ago to saying what sounded incredibly like "daddy" the other day. We were very excited and proud when you said it for the video we were making to send to Daddy. Now how about "mama"? Clearly, it's time for Mommy to start referring to herself in the third person.

There are some big changes coming now. You are closer to being a toddler than a newborn. You are just so much fun to be with, and I can't wait to see how your personality continues to develop. I know I say every month is exciting, but it's true! Can't wait for the next one.

Love,
Mommy

(that's "mah-mee" -- got it?)
